„Cat Circus” is a German/French/Russian/Irish co-production.
Cavallo Film GmbH, Berlin is in charge of the project.
The project is devised as a film for children and adults.
The protagonists are „live” cats.
There is a long tradition of cat training in Russia,
as Yuri Kuklachov’s unique Cat’s Theatre in Moscow demonstrates.
The visual effects, required for example for the cats’ lip movements,
will be developed in Babelsberg and Berlin.
Producer Ulrich John has been working
with Russian television and various private film studios in Moscow since 1986.
Co-authors are Academy Award-winning Vladimir Menshov
and the famous director Philippe de Broca († 2004).
Cat Circus is devised as an international feature film project.
Various European countries have made their interest known. The United States have made first requests.
The budget will be 7.7 million €.
The cast is international:
one (human) main part each is to be cast with a star from Russia, Germany, France, and the USA.
The film is to be realized in English.
The script is available in German, English and Russian.
